FAQ - How to remove scratches from glass and metal:
Depending on the depth of the scratch start with 1200 wet and dry carborundum paper and rub with a little water until scratches are removed. Then use finer paper, e.g. 4000 followed by 3µm diamond paste or powder. Put the paste/ powder on fine, tightly woven cloth and rub until the glass/ metal becomes clear. If using powder moisten the cloth with water. Finish off with 1µm diamond paste/ powder. Always rinse when changing the medium. Smaller scratches can be polished with 6, 3, and 1µm diamond paste/ powder.
Polishing car windows:
To avoid flaring when driving into the light 1µm diamond paste/ powder is best. This will eliminate most of the very fine scratches and improve visibility a great deal. Larger scratches can be removed with larger diamond particles, but then several grades are required, say 10µm to 3µm and finish with 1µm. Don't jump grades, and remove ALL coarse particles before using the finer grade. When using the 1µm, first polish a small area then inspect that versus the unpolished adjacent area while having a light shining at a suitable angle.

DIAMOND POWDER
High purity and size uniformity. These polycrystalline diamond particles are blocky and irregular in shape to ensure excellent abrasive action and enhanced performance. Recommended for polishing various metals, minerals, glass, ceramics, carbides, semi-conductors. Size 1.00µm and smaller is suitable for removing carbon coating from polished mineral sections.

These lapping discs are quite superior to "diamond sandpaper".
Well graded diamond particles are resin embedded to a uniform 0.076mm thickness and bonded to a polyester film backing. Excellent for polishing samples of differing hardness. Ideal for the preparation of cross sections for SEM/TEM and dispersive analysis. Long service life. Dull side of disc holds the diamond particles.
Available in 203mm and 305mm discs with plain back or pressure sensitive adhesive back (PSA).

DIAMOND GRIT BLOCK
Diamond grit blocks are made using high quality and durable materials. The diamond-impregnated material is attached to a firm sponge backing block that fits comfortably into your hand. The diamond surface covers one face of the sponge which measures: 85 x 55 x 30 mm.
These blocks are useful for grinding and polishing larger pieces that are too difficult to get onto a grinder, or for a quick clean up of minor imperfections. Diamond hand sanding blocks polish better and last longer than emery paper. They work well on alabaster, and are a must when abrading metals or hard stone such as onyx or marble.
Available in grit sizes from 170 to 800, the coarser grades (170) are suitable for grinding and the finer grade (800) is for pre-polishing.

MICROFIBRE CLOTHS - Advanced Technology for Safe, Superior Cleaning
Microfibre is a superfine thread made from a blend of polyester and polyamide, 100 times finer than a human hair. The thread is split into wedge-shaped strands which are woven into soft cloth.

Because the cloth is washable and works without chemicals, it is safer for the environment and more economical.
Washing instruction: machine wash in warm water.
To use: blow away loose particles. Wipe surface to a shine with cloth.
Compact discs: use caution when cleaning CDs. Remove any loose particles, as above. Fold cloth and wipe disc outward from centre - across grooves.
