HOT PLATES Our hotplates are suitable for all routine laboratory applications. They are rugged and durable and are available in a range of sizes and types designed for temperature uniformly over the whole top surface. The bodies are of mild steel, coated with white enamel or of stainless steel supported with rubber feet. Cast iron top units are controlled with energy regulators, maximum 500°C. Aluminium top units are thermostatically controlled up to 300°C - Teflon "Silverstone" coated 280°C. Solid state instruments can be fitted for finer temperature control. Stainless steel surrounds can be supplied for sand bath heating. A separate controller is supplied for the larger model 206 cast iron top hotplate or for any other model when used in extremely corrosive environments. Special acid resistant element leads and 316 stainless steel is used on the heavy acid range of hotplates. SEM heat controller can be used on any heating apparatus.
We supply a large range of hotplates - from 130mm diameter to 610 x 500mm rectangular. All require 220/240 volts. They are durable and well designed for laboratory applications. The bodies are of mild steel coated with a white, high acid-resistant polyurethane enamel. Hotplate tops are made from smooth or rough aluminium, optionally with PTFE coating or in cast iron. A smooth hotplate is preferable for curing mounting media, smoothing wax and resin sections, heat staining and drying silica gel; a rough one reduces boiling bounce. Hotplates are custom built and special purpose models for instance in explosion prone environments or for drying are available Some models are available for use in extremely corrosive environments. These are fitted with the temperature controller in a separate housing and a more acid-resistant element. For critical analytical work hotplates can be supplied completely coated PTFE These are quality Australian made hot plates. Usual delivery period is four weeks, although small hotplates may be ex-stock. Indicated prices are for Australia and New Zealand; to other destinations and for larger hotplates, please inquire. All Aluminium/ Teflon hotplates are available in a low-temperature version. These are better controlled in the lower temperature range and cannot reach the highest temperatures, thus avoiding some hazardous situations. These plates carry the suffix 'L' in addition to the A or T in the catalogue number e.g. E204AL. They may be ordered specifying the critical temperature range, prices are the same as the equivalent normal temperature range hotplates. HEAVY ACID RANGE HOTPLATES
These Heavy Acid Range Hotplates are suitable for extremely corrosive environments. This range of hotplates covers a variety of sizes in cast iron and aluminium on request. The hotplate bodies are constructed entirely from heavy gauge 316 stainless steel and element connections are fully sealed. Single phase hotplates are supplied with a 10 amp or 15 amp heat control box of cast aluminium construction. This can be free standing on rubber supports or fixed to a wall via mounting lugs. Three phase hotplates are supplied with a robust switching unit housed in a powder coated heavy gauge steel box and a single phase cord to power the energy regulator and three pole relay. Teflon coated aluminium or austenitic iron hotplates are available in most sizes and digital PID control with removable temperature probe is an option on any hotplate. *Specials made to customers requirements. CONTROL UNITS
SAND BATHS All rectangular and square S.E.M. hotplates can be converted to sand baths by the addition of a Sand Bath Surround. These are made from 316 grade stainless steel and simply slide on to the hotplate. Clamping screws secure the surround and eliminate any gaps for sand to escape. Wall heights are 30, 50 or 75mm. WATER BATHS
These water baths are well constructed. The interior is made of super 304 stainless steel with all joints welded. A stainless steel rack covers the elements. A pyramid-type lid is also made in stainless steel. It is hinged at the back and has round bakelite knobs on each side for easy opening with minimal risk of steam burning. The outer case is constructed of zinc seal coated steel, finished in light-cream coloured, tough polyurethane enamel. The bath has insulated walls. The temperature is controlled by a snap action thermostat up to 100oC and has a push button reset for overheat protection. All controls are mounted on the right hand side. Circulating Water Baths: These water baths are static, but can be turned into circulating water baths through the addition of a suitable pump. This gives better convection within the water bath and can be used to circulate controlled hot water in another vessel. Ask for a price. Pumps used below 40°C are cheaper than more heat tolerant pumps - specify. Digital PID temperature controllers (rather than thermostats) and programmable PID are other available options. STEAM BATHS
All stainless steel construction with welded joints. Fitted with constant water level device. Internal depth 90mm. The heating element has an overheat protection device within it. A removable stainless steel cover has the appropriate number and size of holes, each fitted with a set of four rings. The unit has a simmerstat to regulate heating, a two metre flex and three pin plug top.

MyBlock™ MINI DRY BATH
MyBlock™ Mini dry bath is a compact instrument which fits almost anywhere and can also be used in cars, boats or wherever a 12 volt power source is available. Six block configurations cater for a variety of tube sizes, ranging from 0.2 to 50mL. EB100-B4 holes have been shaped to the profile of a standard 1.5mL conical centrifuge tube. MACRO KJELDAHL HEATERS
Constructed of stainless steel and supplied with 1-6 recesses, each fitted with a metal clad element specially designed for efficient heating and minimum effect from liquid spillage. Each element is controlled by an energy regulator and heating is indicated by a pilot light. Two refractory support rings are supplied for each recess to accept from 100-800mL capacity flasks. They come in 4 sizes with the following internal diameters: Extra small 50mm Small 60mm Large 80mm K type 85mm All multiple units include an adjustable stainless steel flask support. Without glassware. For use on 240V 50Hz.
These units are specially designed with incoloy metal clad element set in an aluminium block 65mm diameter machined to give most efficient heating for Kjeldahl flasks. They are controlled by an energy regulator and can operate at temperatures up to 400°C. The body is made of stainless steel.
